The boat remembers every owner, sale and service visit.
A boat hull history record that outlives every sale. A hull is recorded once, by HIN, and keeps its full history through trades, resales and repairs. Enter the boat once and everything that happens to it stays on the record.

A permanent record, separate from any one listing
The boat hull history record is separate from any one listing. BoaterOS splits the hull from the listing. The hull is the permanent record: identity, specs, engines, trailer, owners and documents. Each time you sell it, a new listing is created for that sales cycle, so the boat's past is never overwritten by its present.
- Ownership chain with dates, end reasons and where each owner came from
- Every listing and sales cycle the hull has had, with views, saves and inquiries
- Deals table by role, date, customer, price and stage
- Engines and trailers linked to the hull
- Work orders and service events on the same page
- Field-level change history showing who changed what
How the history builds
- 01
Enter the HIN once
The wizard looks up the HIN first. If the hull exists, you see it and its listing instead of creating a duplicate.
- 02
Ownership moves with the deal
Closing a deal records the buyer as owner and marks the listing sold, automatically. Manual transfers close the old ownership and open the new one in one step.
- 03
Service writes back
A new work order adds a service event to the hull's timeline, including for walk-in boats with no owner on file.
- 04
Trades come back home
A trade-in materializes as a hull on close, so a boat you took in keeps the history it arrived with.
What it doesn't do yet
The older history table is rarely written
The vessel page still shows a legacy history table that few actions write to. The live change history is on the listing.
Hull-plate photo capture is not built
The wizard's copy mentions a HIN plate photo, but that step does not exist yet.
Feed history is not kept
BoaterOS does not log which marketplace feeds a boat was included in or when, so you cannot look back at when a unit was on a given portal.
What dealers ask about this
Nothing is lost. The listing closes, the hull stays, and the ownership chain gains a new owner with a start date.
Yes. An attach-historical-deal form lets staff link a past sale to the hull record.
Work orders and manual service records attach to the hull. Scanned service PDFs from a previous system can also be attached to hulls.
